I have created body ornaments and objects using urushi Urushi can be put into various forms with the kanshitsu process (dry lacquering). And with techniques such as raden (mother of pearl inlay) and makie (sprinkled metallic powder), urushi has infinite possibilities. My body ornaments are “experience devices” that enable the wearers to use their five senses and identify with the universe-earth, water, fire, wind and air -and intersect with nature.
