この作品は、形式上では屏風という中国伝統造形であるが、新しい空間への演出を試みた立体造形である。
創作スタイルとして私は、装飾とミニマリズムを追求しており、さらに伝統漆工芸の技法を用いている。この作品で、螺鈿や卵殻の象嵌技法、また日本で学んだ蒔絵技法を施している。漆芸創作に使用される各種材
料はすべて、それぞれ特徴ある質感、性能、光沢と色彩をもっている。これらの材料の天然の特質をいかに利用するかという点で興味をもっている。よって私は創作過程で、いつも材料によってデザインを考えている、つまり逆の思考なのである。

This is in form a folding screen, a Chinese traditional decorative object, but also a three-dimensional form aiming to dramatize a new space. I pursue decoration and minimalism using traditional urushi technique. For this work, I used mother of pearl and egg shell inlay, and the maki－e technique that I learned in Japan. All the materials used in creating urushi works have unique texture, performance, gloss and colors. I am interested in utilizing these characteristics of the natural materials. So I develop design based on the materials, and not the other way around.
