漆は単体では形を成形することが出来ないゆえ、造形素材として使用上の制約や限界が多い。私はその制約や限界を克服することが衰退しつつある漆文化に活気を取り戻すことと繋がると念いを重ね努力をしてきました。造形表現に直結する技法の工夫や新しい素材、研究改善すべき手仕事に真剣に向き合うことは、特に私たち工芸領域にいるアーティストにとって、大きな責務であろうと思うのです。

Urushi is a confined and limited molding material for it cannot form a shape on its own. I have worked in the belief that overcoming such confinement and limits would lead to revitalization of the withering urushi culture. We the artists of arts and crafts have the responsibility to improve the molding technique that is directly linked to expression, and seriously face with new materials, the and handcraft, the need of refinement.
